This report provides information about the Vital Indicators of Progress (VIP) measures - the assessment tools embedded into our elementary reading curriculum. The report includes a description of the VIP assessment system and individual measures, including their development and decision rules, followed by four studies that support the use of the VIP measures as indicators of five key early literacy skills that are predictive of later reading achievement.

The Computational Fluency Benchmark Assessment (CF Assessment) measures essential computational skills taught throughout the entire Vmath level. The Computational Fluency Goals (CF Goals) for the Vmath CF Assessments were first established in 2006. Examination of two years of Vmath CF data, 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 school years, indicate that changes are appropriate to the original CF Goals.
